Works do. Good company with friends so they created atmosphere. However quaint pub. Service as swift and as helpful as they could be. Food - platefuls of food, too much of it to be fair. Starter was very poor . I had black pud in a sauce, topped with egg, wholely tasteless and very snotty egg. Main was tasty, just far too much, turkey was cut very thick. Couldn't finish main so declined dessert. Deserts delivered to table were reported to be lovely and again these were huge.

Sunday afternoon we reordered roast meats as we were gettin there at 4pm. The meat was chewy needed cooking longer. The service was very poor my wife's food arrived no veg then 10 minutes later my meal arrived with the veg for me and my wife, who was finishing her meal by this time. The place wasnt very busy only a few tables taken. Very poor experience. Pleased to say not returning.

We went as a group of 6 We all had different main meals and 4 had dessert. The food was fabulous, piping hot and plentiful not one complaint from anyone in our group. The desserts were lovely as well. Despite the fact that the restaurant was full our food was delivered quickly and the staff were very attentive.

Took my daughter tonight for her 18th birthday & it was lovely. Food, service & atmosphere was top tier. They let us bring my daughters birthday cake which was nice. Forgot to mention my daughter is autistic so sorry if she was loud & came across rude when her candles went out before she blew them out 🤦‍♀️. The food was lovely we all enjoyed our meal & the staff were very helpful & friendly. Would definitely eat here again

We called in around 5pm on a Sunday, ready for a delightful surprise when they told us they were still serving food. The lively atmosphere, with the place bustling and busy, was already a promising sign. Though we hadn’t booked a table, we found a cozy spot without any trouble. We decided on a small hotshot parmo, not quite certain how hungry we were, along with a side of garlic bread and onion rings. To our amazement, the service was impressively quick, and the food arrived hot, creating a spread that felt truly regal. The small parmo was generously portioned, accompanied by the best chunky home-cooked chips—not the typical frozen ones. The salad was fresh, crisp, and lightly dressed, striking a perfect balance. The onion rings were exceptional, featuring deep slices of onion enveloped in a perfectly crispy batter, and the garlic bread was bursting with real garlic flavor. I couldn't finish mine, so it was happily packed away in a takeaway carton for later. I wholeheartedly recommend this pub; it’s a hidden gem. We’re excited to return with friends and family to share this wonderful local treasure. Meals are very reasonably priced between £15 & £20 for most of them.

Lovely to see Jimmy here still 🌟 Was a table of 14 of us , excellent service from you Lovely lasses. Food excellent. Sister & bro in law come all the way from Lancashire for the fox covert parmo s. Wasn't a full plate left, delicious home made chips too & salad. Children s meals were good size too. Hadn't been for a few years as we always took our Mam, she loved it there ♡ bless her

We have been visiting here for a number of years on and off and honestly always had amazing food. We went today to celebrate our anniversary and sat in the bar area, service was excellent, the waitress was extremely polite and so friendly and honestly can't fault the food! My husband had beef madras and a side of chips and I had the small fish and chips. Lovely homemade chips!!! I did get mushy peas with my meal but gave them to my husband which is why they aren't on pic! Due to my restricted diet we don't go out to eat that often, its a rare treat, but this is somewhere I know I'll be ok as things I can pick off the menu that don't make me poorly and they take note when I ask for salt not to be sprinkled over food, which some establishments automatically add when you order fish and chips. Love seeing the dogs that come in, our dog a bit too big and fussy to bring unfortunately but lovely seeing all the dogs that come in, would definitely recommend the Fox Covert!!

Our favorite local spot whenever we feel lazy too cook, but fancy something homely❤️ I love their fish and chips (nice batter) and Steak&ale pie. There’s plenty of space outside, but for indoors I’d suggest to book (especially for 5-8 pm). Kitchen closes at 9pm, so consider that when planning your visit. There’s spacious parking just near the pub and B&B around the corner.

Very cosy and country style pub, friendly staff and food was delicious! Proper home made comfort food. I had mince and dumplings, portions were generous too. We stayed in The Old Mill nearby and it's literally a 2 minute walk to the pub which was very handy! Would definitely return.
